A location label attached to an IP address is a database result. It is not the same as your device’s precise location or a complete test of the VPN. Start by identifying which kind of location the website is showing.

## Work through the checks

1. Note whether the site used an IP lookup, browser location permission or an account preference. These can produce different answers.
2. Record the selected VPN option, if the app offers one, and the address family returned by the checker.
3. Repeat the same IP check without changing networks. Compare addresses before comparing the place labels supplied by different databases.
4. If an account-based service shows another country, check its official account and location guidance. Do not treat an account setting as a network measurement.
5. When asking for help, include the test URL, time, observed address family and the place label. Avoid publishing private location history.

## Read the result

| What you observe | Next step |
| --- | --- |
| Two tools show the same IP but different place labels | The geolocation databases may disagree. |
| One site uses device-location permission | That is a different signal from an IP lookup. |
| An exact exit country is required | Confirm the app’s actual available option before relying on it. |

## Make the comparison useful

For example, a browser IP checker and a map service with location permission are not measuring the same thing. A difference between them does not automatically mean the VPN is broken.

## Before changing more settings

Do not assume that changing your public IP updates a service’s billing country or bypasses its geographic rules. Follow the service’s own requirements. The country directory supplies geographic context and does not verify Zenshield exit inventory.

Use the [support-request template](https://zenshield.com/help/report-a-problem) if you need to send the result. The [reference guidance](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Geolocation_API) explains the underlying network or platform behavior; exact Zenshield controls depend on the installed app version.
