A free VPN does not replace an internet plan. Here is what to check on the connection you use in Northern Cyprus.
Check the northern part of Cyprus explicitly
A package listing Cyprus may exclude its northern part. For example, EE’s pay-as-you-go Europe-zone list explicitly excludes northern Cyprus. That example describes the named EE offer, not every provider or plan. Ask your own provider which network and destination your package covers before enabling roaming or idle bandwidth sharing.

Read the network name and allowance before you connect
Save your provider’s destination list before travelling. After arriving or changing networks, read the network name, welcome message and data allowance. If the price or coverage is unclear, keep mobile data off while you confirm it with the provider. A VPN does not change your roaming tariff or prevent the underlying network from charging for data.
Finish accommodation Wi-Fi sign-in first
Ask your host for the correct network and any browser sign-in steps. Complete those steps, check that normal internet access works, then open the VPN app. If access fails after moving between Wi-Fi and mobile data, test each connection separately and use the connection checklist. Obtain the network owner’s permission before sharing bandwidth.
A Cyprus IP label is not proof of a northern exit
This page refers to the northern part of Cyprus as a destination, not a separate ISO country entry. Zenshield has not published verified exits there. If an exact location is essential, confirm the app’s current choices before relying on it; neither a Cyprus label nor an IP lookup guarantees a particular town or access to a specific service.
