You can opt out
Zenshield’s free access requires opt-in idle bandwidth sharing. You can stop participating at any time. That does not mean free VPN access continues without the required exchange.
The sharing policy describes three ways to stop participation, depending on the version: fully close the app, uninstall it, or use a sharing setting if one is available. Do not assume every version has the same switch.
Closing a window may leave the app running
On desktop, the policy says sharing may continue while the app runs in the background or is minimized. Closing the visible window is not always the same as fully exiting the application. Look for the app’s full exit action rather than assuming that an empty desktop means participation has stopped.
If you cannot tell whether the app has fully closed, contact support with your platform and app version. Do not remove unrelated network settings or processes.
Uninstalling and deleting an account are separate
Uninstalling removes the app. An account-deletion request concerns information associated with the account and is handled under the privacy policy. Use our uninstall guide for that distinction and contact the team if you also want to request account deletion.
Before you start again
Review the sharing explanation and the connection you will use, especially on mobile data or roaming. The policy describes possible data use and provider charges. Consent to the exchange should be an informed choice, not a surprise after installation.
Read the full bandwidth-sharing policy or ask the team a question.
Choose the action that matches your intention
| Your intention | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Stop for the current session | Use the full exit action and check that the app is no longer running |
| Change participation using an app control | Check whether your installed version provides that setting and read its result |
| Remove the software from this device | Use the operating system’s uninstall process |
| Request deletion of account records | Send an account-deletion request under the privacy policy |
These actions should not be treated as interchangeable. In particular, disconnecting the VPN is not by itself evidence that the separate sharing process has stopped.
Check each device you use
If Zenshield is installed on more than one device, review each installation. Closing an app on a laptop does not establish the state of the app on your phone. After a restart, inspect the app’s current state rather than assuming a previous session’s exit action controls future launches.
If you cannot find a clear way to stop on your version, say that explicitly in a support request. Include your platform, the version if visible, and whether you closed a window, used an exit command or changed a setting. This lets the team answer the actual control question without guessing what you tried.
