Keep your own IP out of sight
For browsing routed through the VPN, websites see its server’s IP instead of your connection’s IP.
Use Zenshield on Windows or Android in Wales. Check the connection at your home, accommodation or next stop, then decide whether opt-in idle bandwidth sharing suits that network.
How the sharing exchange worksA few useful things a VPN can do on the connection you already have.
For browsing routed through the VPN, websites see its server’s IP instead of your connection’s IP.
An encrypted connection between your device and the VPN adds a layer of privacy. Keep using HTTPS and your device’s security features.
Choose from the available locations in the app. A VPN can change your IP-based location; it does not change your GPS location.
Choose the Windows installer or Android APK. Get it directly from Zenshield.
Install the app and create your account. Read the idle bandwidth-sharing explanation and give consent to use the free VPN.
Use the app to choose from its available connection options and connect. Check the app’s connection status before you start browsing.

Downloading the app does not start bandwidth sharing. Read the terms and give consent in the app before participating.
You can opt out at any time. Sharing is required for free VPN access, so Zenshield is for people who are comfortable with that exchange. How sharing works.
A free VPN does not replace an internet plan. Here is what to check on the connection you use in Wales.
Welsh Government recommends checking broadband availability and mobile coverage at the property. Use the address or postcode for your home or accommodation, rather than assuming that coverage elsewhere in Wales applies there. Its broadband advice also explains mobile, fixed-wireless and satellite options where a fixed connection is unsuitable.

On a connection you trust, first try the same ordinary website without the VPN. If that also fails, check the Wi-Fi sign-in, signal and provider service before changing VPN settings. If only the VPN connection fails, note the device, network type and exact error for connection troubleshooting. A VPN does not create mobile coverage or repair a weak broadband line.
If a website needs an IP associated with Wales, a United Kingdom label alone is not enough. Check the location actually offered by the app and what the destination website reports. Zenshield has not published verified Welsh exits. An IP-location result is approximate and does not identify your physical location.
Using a VPN while you are in Wales and choosing a VPN exit there are different things. We have not published verified Zenshield exit locations for Wales. Check the current location choices in the app before relying on a specific IP location.
Zenshield does not charge a subscription. Free access requires opt-in idle bandwidth sharing, and your internet provider’s data charges still apply. App access and network rules can vary, so check the connection you intend to use.
We have not confirmed which Zenshield server locations are available in Wales. Check the app’s available locations before depending on a local IP address.
Windows and Android are the available apps. iOS, macOS and other platforms are forthcoming, with no announced release date. Check platform availability.
Install the app, sign in or create an account, then read the sharing terms during onboarding. Consent is required before participation. Use the Windows instructions or Android instructions for help.
No. A VPN uses an existing internet connection. Downloading, VPN use and idle bandwidth sharing can use your data allowance. Check your plan before participating on mobile data or roaming.
Choose your app and review the sharing terms during setup.
Source dates appear with the relevant information. Local advice does not confirm Zenshield server locations.
